I am a new to the group and I am looking forward to meeting all of you at the next meeting. I brew my own beer, so I’ll have to bring some.

I was wondering if there was anyone in the group who knew of anyone doing Linux chip programming for robotics.

Not me but it sounds pretty damn cool. The only robotics I have are two Roombas (one broken sadly) and one of those RoboSapians I got as an Xmas gift. I didn’t even know there were loads of mods for those until Robio asked me if I did “The flamethrower mod”. Figures Robio would know about flame thrower mods…

So what kind of robotic programming chips do you do/want to know about?

I’m also new and looking forward to the next meeting. I am interested in Linux robotics amongst other things. I assume by Linux chip programming you are referring to using embedded Linux. I am personally interested in the PC Linux approach, with a design similar to the Open Automation Project (http://oap.sourceforge.net/).

So far I’ve experimented with a VIA mini-ITX board running SLAX off a USB Flash drive. I started working on interfacing this with an MIT Handy Board but the communication was unreliable, or buggy ;-).

Linux robotics? Not sure if this will be helpful but we have bluray jukebox/libraries that utilize Linux robotics for the internal parts etc. I’ll be more than glad to share…
